Richie Wilmot Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 Hi Guys, I have a 99 Galaxy 1.9 TDi that has been running fine for ages. Yesterday, we took her out for a long drive to the beach which is about 30-40 miles awayTHe car was fine all the way there.. On the way home, I'd say about a 1/4 of a mile into the journey, the oil light started flashing and then the beeping started. I pulled over straight away and checked the oil. It was a bit low but then that was because I forgot to check it before the journey. Anyway, took it to the petrol station and bought some oil to top it up. Got half way down the road and beeping started again, so pulled over to check the manual. Basically, it said that it would keep beeping if I took it over 2000 rpm in 5th gear. So, drove home at 50mph for the whole journey... yay.. I pulled over again to check the oil level which was fine and I noticed that the unit that the oil filter connects to has 2 wires coming out of the top (what do these do?) the one on the right looked loose so I carefully pulled it off the pin only to find that there was no wire attached to the end of the connector! Would this be the cause? I am open to all advice etc. It is about due for a service and will be booked in next week but I wanted to see if I could fix it before taking it in... Thanks =) Richie Quote
