Adam Smith Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 The nsf electric window on my Galaxy got stuck half down today and door started smoking. I presume the electric window motor has burnt out. How do I remove the internal door panel? Also is there a way then of manually winding the window back up before I repalce the burnt out motor? Thanks in anticipation of any assistance. Adam Quote

AdamHi thereDoor card removal is covered in the FAQ section number 4 for the MK2 and 48 for MK1You will have to un clamp the glass from the mechanism and wedge the glass up temporary while motor is changed Quote

gregers Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 you dont, you need to unscrew them so the glass slides up. Quote
alane Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 you dont, you need to unscrew them so the glass slides up.The glass in my drivers side window stuck as it was winding down and parted company with the mechanism. If I take the card off the door as per the FAQ is it a relatively simple job to reattach? I'm assuming from the comment that there is a screw clamp to fix the mech to the glass? Best Regards Alan. chrispb123456 Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 there are two clamps on the glass, you will proberbly need two pieces off rubber to wrap around edge of glass as packing, an old inner tube will do Quote
alane Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 there are two clamps on the glass, you will proberbly need two pieces off rubber to wrap around edge of glass as packing, an old inner tube will doThanks Chris for the info. Is the clamp a push fit or are there screws to tighten? I'm just worried about either breaking the glass or not doing it up tight enough so it comes off again. Thanks Alan. Quote
chrispb123456 Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 (edited) Hi again Originally a spongy material is stuck around the edge of the glass, with age this disintegrates and allows the glass to slip out of the clamps. The clamp surface is knurled to aid gripping the spongy material. The clamp screws are the torx head type which need to be tightened fully, the pressure exerted on the glass will depend on the thickness and compressability of the material used.
