nickhill Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 I have a 1996 2.3l petrol Automatic Galaxy. The engine has developed what I can only describe as a chugging noise. It gets worse when the car is put into Drive or Reverse (but is stationary) and when the engine gets hot. It sounds almost as if the engine is losing revs (or gaining them) but there is no percetible change to the rev counter. I have replaced the MAF sensor and cleaned the injectors but this has not helped. Has anyone got any suggestions? Quote

El Dingo Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 The plastic air intake duct might have fallen off where it connects to the air filter between the inner and outer wing. Quote
nickhill Posted April 19, 2010 Author Report Posted April 19, 2010 The plastic air intake duct might have fallen off where it connects to the air filter between the inner and outer wing. Air duct is intact as is the manifold. I got a friend to plug into the ECU and the engine temerpature reading is 33,000 degrees. Have a new sensor on order from Ford but does anyone know if this could possible cause the problem described? Quote
