Hello,

I was topping up oil level on my galaxy this morning and noticed some beige coloured sludge deposit on the oil filler cap.

Is this normal or is it a sign of something more sinister going on?

There appears to be no water in the oil or vice versa

Thanks,

Paul

Could just be a bit on condensation building up in the oil. Does the car do a lot of short journeys?

Many thanks.Yes it does lots of short journeys

That's your problem then. Short trips = 'mayo' under the filler cap.

Take it for a long run and you'll most likely find none under the cap afterwards.

Hi there As a + to all other advice it may be worth reducing the oil & filter change interval to 5000 mls instead of the 10000 mls recommended by Ford.
