rudey Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) i have a seat alhambra p reg , 2 weeks ago driving back from london it cut out sudenly ( almost like fuel had run out, but it had fuel in it ) cranked it over would not start ( glow plug lights come on and go out etc..)got recovered (after 2.30hr wait with rac )after it got home next daystripped of the fuel filter , filled new filter with fuel tried to start same problem ,brought an inline hand pump to prime fuel into high pressure fuel pump, still not startingcracked of injector nuts and no fuel was coming through from high pressure fuel pump, i then replaced timing belt and high pressure fuel pump , now fuel is coming through but not under pressure ? , timed it back up -replaced water pumps ( it was noisy ) re-greased the idler pulley etc...not starting i have used my m8ts solus and vag software and there is NO codes present !!! after it had broken down there were no codes present either it seems like a mechanic fault, it will run on easy start , i am thinking about towing it as i think that the high pressure pump is not turing over fast enough , is there anything else i can do ??? any help would be greatly apreaciated :rolleyes:as i am at the end of my tether Edited April 1, 2010 by rudey Quote

It was slightly different as i could see the relay when i looked under the fuse cover and didnt have to undo any trim. Hope this helps. Quote

big_kev Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 will have another try , but i think the instructions are for the mk2 mines mk1 , will have a another looky m8ty  Personally I would check relay 167 ( 2nd layer bottom right ). Try unplugging it and plugging it in again.....or tap it gently whilst trying to start. Quote
rudey Posted April 2, 2010 Author Report Posted April 2, 2010 (edited) i could NOT find a second layer , took out the panel in the photo but there is nothing behind it bar the wires Edited April 2, 2010 by rudey Quote
billywizzo Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 i could NOT find a second layer , took out the panel in the photo but there is nothing behind it bar the wires try tapping each relay and then try the car after each one is tapped.this worked for me a few times untill i changed the relay.i do not have the mk1 anymore otherwise i would have a look and tell you which one it was but i cannot remember its position or the number written on it. seatkid Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 (edited) slight problem i dont have a 30 relay :rolleyes:Of course not, relay 30 is the fuel pump relay for a PETROL engine :) Try the search - IIRC the crankshaft position sensor (called a speed sensor on the Tdi) is a favourite for TDi non-starter (after immobiliser problems) - dont take my word for it - read up on it before you go ahead and change something....
