ricki Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Hi all, Since my starting problem i eventually had fixed, my Galaxy MKI TDI seems to be playing up. IF i accelerate reasonably hard it seems to miss and then i seem to lose power, but if i turn car off then start again then its fine again. It was stood for two weeks while i sorted the starting problem out but wouldnt have thought it would be the fuel filter would it? Also i have a 3 way pipe that comes off the water pump and oil filter and engine that keeps splitting every 3 months. It costs me Quote
zorgman Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 cars going into limp mode, if this never happened before doing the starting fault go thru all the pipes. new one on the pipe tho is thermostat ok does the car overheat as in the best temp i get in this weather is just under the first mark Quote

zorgman Posted April 3, 2010 Report Posted April 3, 2010 year and power of your car ie 90 pr 110 tdi or pd very important info to help you Quote
mark.aa Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 (edited) mines doing the same 98 ghia X manual 110bhp tdi with 218k on the clock.runs fine in first and second but if i give it beans in third above 3000 rpm the turbo shuts down and and its in limp home untill turn off and on,tried the air mass (MAF)from a working friend car.NOchecked all vac pipes .sucked on vac pipe to vac actuator on turbo that moves the variable vains and can feel it moving and comming back by itself when vac removedsucked on the vac pipe to the ecu thats well hidden in dash and theres no leak there.even took out the ecu(fun)opened it up and checked the pipe to the map sensor ,it was okhad a fault code for control unit failure 633? so thats why i took the ecu apart.some times it missfires and smokes when the turbo shuts down.when clearshope we both fined the cure, Edited April 4, 2010 by mark.aa Quote
zorgman Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 by how far did the actuator move on turbo as it needs to move approx 1/4" if i think on, would still go for turbo myself as te 110 are terrible for vanes sticking Quote
ricki Posted April 7, 2010 Author Report Posted April 7, 2010 year and power of your car ie 90 pr 110 tdi or pd very important info to help you Sorry for delay in reply, ive been away for a few days but its a 1999 (V) and it's the 90 as far as i know Quote
zorgman Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 right 90hp uses norm turbo 110 a vnt. the 90 dont suffer the vanes sticking and the 110 dont sound vanes sticking if you have that amount of travel when u suck.for the pair of you id check your vac hoses pay attention to where they connect to joints etc and sharp bends. id also change the hose internal on ecu as it goes claggy and soft so can get a pin hole in it,you do need a diag check see what codes are there BUT you need any in there erased before you do a run so you know whats old and new, im in sunderland so bit far for you to travel Quote
Neils TDi again Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 It would be worth checking with a digital multimeter the throttle pedal position sensor as it has two converging resistance tracks and if one is damaged or faulty then it get a missing signal when trying to relate pedal position to engine speed and this is normally only if you are giving it "beans" as the pedal is in a full down position which is not the normal driving area.
