Tow Bar Electrics - Brown Lighting Plug

I have got a dedicated wiring kit with my towbar. I cant find one of the plugs.

 

Its a brown plug which should be in the right hand compartment. All i can find is a pink one which is the wrong shape as well as the wrong colour.

 

Anyone know where the brown plug is? or is there something wrong with my kit?

 

Thought it was going to easy, just unplug the exisitng plug an plug in the kit.

Tricky to say without knowing the kit manufacturer, seeing the plug or knowing what year or spec you are fitting it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

However when I fitted my ford kit to the Mk2 there are three brown plugs behind the trim in the drivers side compartment, as you look at it in the lowest back corner, just where the panel curves around to meet the tailgate. PITA to get to though, you really need to remove or at lease loosen the panel to get to them.

Found it.

 

I managed to unhook the carrier the black and pink connectors were on and there the little brown fella was, hiding just out of sight.

 

So all towbared up now. Simple job really. Hardest bit was getting the bumper off.

Hi there does your wiring kit utilize the second warning light for indicators on the dash when connected to your trailer?

I think so.

 

I am just waiting for my vagcom lead to turn up so i can tell the car it has a tow bar and then hopefully that will work.

Just to say that yes the towbar electrics kit I have fitted uses the secondry indicator light (<-1->) on the dash when the trailer is connected.

As a question, when you put the hazzard lights on WITHOUT the trailer connected, is the <1> still flashing? Mines done this on both Mk2's with different wiring kits so it seems to be normal, just wondered?
