chrispb123456 Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 I have a 2003 1.9TDI Ghia have had the car 4 years now have done all my own repairs in the past except air con rad and re-gas, am having some small problems I hope with auto g/box.I think it would benefit from having the fluid and filter changed and has just clocked the 100.000 It is noticably slow engaging drive after taking foot off the foot brake but only when engine/gearbox is cold and it has been extra cold around here this winter am not aware of any other problems with it.Information is very limited on the MK II I have got one of those Ford TIS manuals on CD which is quite useful but apart from going to Ford to buy the fluid Quote
big_kev Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) I just wonder weather any of the members may have tackled the job can you get the filter and fluid from somewhere other than Ford and also what is the correct or suitable equivilent fluid and what make is the G/box I have seen AG 5 mentioned in the Ford CD and Jatco jf506e on the net. On a different note I upgraded my booster heater which assists warming up in the cold weather so it runs independent of the engine which is very usefull this time of year and have other information which could be usefull to other members if they have problems with the booster heater regards Chris Hi Chris , welcome to the forum. You might find the filter and fluid cheaper from VW and/or VW suppliers as both your engine and gearbox are VW not Ford......in fact pretty much your whole car is VW. I would be wary of changing the Autobox fluid unless you are 100% certain it needs it. Try http://www.gsfcarparts.com/index.asp and look under VW Sharan for ATF oil Well done with the booster heater upgrade....you need to speak to Mirez and compare notes.
