Hi, my galaxy won't start. The starter motor was clicking while trying to start. Bought new starter motor and battery was tested. Once starter motor fitted, still same symptons. The digital display goes on and off. It seems to have mind of its own. The needles on rev counter and speedo go haywire on clocks flying up and then back down, then settles. The battery light on comes on when ignition first turned on then goes out. The fuel gauge and temp gauge going haywire and they also have a mind of their own. Checked all fuses but can't see anything wrong with them. My brother has checked for any dropped wires when fitted starter motor. Can find where relays are to check them. Any ideas on what the fault might be would be gratefully appreciated. Got young baby and can't afford expensive garage repairs. Thank you

How was the battery tested?

From the symptoms it appears to be the battery at fault not the starter motor.

Indeed, sounds very much like a battery failure. As insider said, how was it tested? How old is it (there should be a date on it somewhere)?

If its not a battery fault then check the wiring from the negative to the chassis and the positive to the aux fusebox and on from there and it sounds very much like low voltage / high resistance

try jump leads on car direct to battery see what happens if it still clicks put ground (black) direct to engine try again if works you got fault battery to engine earth fault. if it dont work live thick red from battery to starter motor broke
