What It A Auto Gal Like?

hi ive just sold my sharan 6 speed and bought a galaxy auto , the sharan had a few faults with it like flywheel noise, aux heater inop , a/c inop , new brakes needed all round , wheel bearing noisy , and a engine light fault it was the accelarator position sensor , so really it would have cost me a fortune to fix , instead ive sold it for

i just want to know what the autos are like and what are the running costs mpg and things??

 

Auto's are lovelly to drive ( anyone who says otherwise probably hasn't driven one, or is a boy racer...loony ! ).

 

MPG is theoretically lower than manuals, although in practice there is little difference as Auto's tend to be driven more sedately.

A Tdi Auto will still get vastly better MPG than any Petrol manual.

 

 

Only thing with Auto's is that when the gearbox does go wrong it can be expensive to rectify.

 

If you've got a good Auto you won't want to go back to a manual......ever !

I had a MK1 Auto for 2 years and did 80K trouble free motoring in it. It was a dream to drive. I only wnet back to manual because if the tax difference.

We've got a 115 TDi Auto, 2003 had it from new, no problems apart from the aux heater. MPG always mid to high 40's even round town and the autobox is superb, very smooth, responsive.
