Not Getting Hot

hi all this morning i thought i would go out early and start the engine and put the heater on to de ice the windows when i went back to the car the windows were still iced up and the heater was blowing ice cold but when i reved the engine lovely hot air started coming out of the vents what does this mean a blockage somewhere

What vehicle do you have. If diesel, read posts about the aux heater which is fitted to help the engine get up to temperature because the engine is so efficient it cannot generate enough heat on it's own.

My Mk2 1.9tdi has not blown warm air for the last three days despite the fact the engine seems to warm up much faster than normal. I suspect a blockage, even frozen pipes somewhere. Anyone got a nice warm room I can put my Gal in for a few hours to warm her up an defrost her?

I had this problem on my 52 plate Mkll Zetec. It turned out to be the impellor problem in the water pump. The impellor had as is normal fallen off, and could not pump water to the heater system. Eventually (after a few days) the car started to overheat and a new water pump was required.

prob coz the engine is at tick over and water not pumping thru heater seems ok to me as instant hot air s soon as you blipped throtle. wouldnt worry about it
