Hi, does anyone know if the heater controls on my Mk2 (05) are controled by a relay, and if so, which one? Its the dial type controls with a/c switches below the dials.

Cheers

hi

i would also like to know if a relay controls the dial type controls for the heater, air flow( screen, center, footweel) and the various recircltion a/c controls

my car is 02 1.9 tdi with dial heater controls

this thread shows taking out the fuse panel to reval the relays

http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...amp;#entry68423

but it whould be very handy to no which one needs replacing

i might just ring up ford and ask for a heater control relay, to see the price, then i'm guessing it will be numbered, so switching it out whould be easy, that is of course if its located in the driver footwell area

i have tryed various things to fix my heater dails not working, fan works, but heat/cold and directions does not, a/c and recirlation does not seem to work either

i have tryed switching over the heater control unit itself, no fix, unplug the control switch , switch on igition, switch off, the reconnect to try to reset, that did not work, disconnect battery for a few mins to try to rest, that did not work either

i am guessing it is more that likely some relay that is at fault, just not sure what oe where it is located

Sounds like you've got exactly the same problem as me. Incidentally does your clock work? MIne packed up at the same time as the heating controls.

Sound mate,,,I also need the answer to this one for the mk2 2.3 zetec with dial controls,,,in addition I need to know what fuse(s) numbers are relavent and does the heating resistor control the actual blower as well as all the other dials.....

Can I also ask have you the same probs as me with heating console,,,I have nothing working or lighting up at all, no directional control, heat control, no AC, no circulation, no rear heating button working? THE only one that is working is the actual blower dial and it still blows too...weird...

nice one

Yep, exactly the same as me. Weirdly the dashboard clock packed up at the same time too. Have been playing around again this morning, there seems to be 12v to the direction control side of the unit, and obviously the blowers as theyre still working, all the earths seem ok too. I'm thinking the actual unit is screwed.

Right come on lets get these issues sorted!

Refer to this:

The blower and its speed controller are independant of the panel. Its fed via fuses F22 (<05/2002) F33 (>05/2002) or F77 (>05/2002 + Rear heating (77 is under the drivers seat)) and the "panel" is purely a switch unit. In position 4 its direct to ground, 3, 2 or 1 its passed through the ballest resistor which limits the fan speed.

If the blower works on position 4 but not the others then the resistor pack is burnt out, if it not working at all then check the supply and ground.

The rest of the panel is digital and fed from fuses F3 and F32 (both 5 Amp) - this arrives at the panel on the black connector (C70) on pin's 10 & 26 (from F3) and 32 (from F32). There are two grounds on pin 11 and 27.

Thats all the power supplies and grounds the unit uses. There are more for the individual A/C units but I'm not going to write all that out since all of the system is failed and not just one bit - the internal controls (flap position, temperature and recirc valve) are all fed from the panel's supply.

Finally, the analogue clock is also supplied its feed from F32 so I would start there if thats not working

I am just starting with a very similar problem.

I have a Ghia with the climate control but other than that the clock has been loosing time for weeks (I think it's just got a sticky segment as it does still work but never correct.)

Yesterday it needed to provide heat for the first time in a couple of weeks and the fan controlls properly being able to change to all the speeds but am unable t get any heat out of it.

Temperature gauge shows the engine water temperature is perfect but no heat out of any of the vents.

Can change where the air comes out as per the climate panel perfectly but cold everywhere

Hi there has the water level gone down in the bottle for what ever reason this can cause air locks in system, if the level has gone down top up and run engine with cap removed until engine is up to temperature observe the water bottle while caps removed, is booster heater and run on pump working? you say the engine is at perfect temperature what is the temperature and how long does it take to get there
