jamesey Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 hi last week on the way down to cornwall i went to accelarate and the sharan just cut out altogether , i was doing 80mph and the dash beeped at me and said "engine workshop" , it was at tick over and i tried to accelarate but in wasnt responding at all , when i went into the breakdown lane the revs were at 1200 rpm and i could not rev it at alli rang my mate and he said turn it off and back on againi did this and it was fine till not and that was 500 miles agowhat do you think this could be , its being read on weds Quote
chromedome Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 Just a guess but it could be a faulty accelerator switch. They are an electrical switch and are prone to wearing in one segment, the bit that's used the most. Could be the ECU got erratic signals from the switch and shut down. This could also be why you had no response from the accelator. Switching off would maybe clear the ECU. Quote
