ooo000ooo Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 The alternator pulley sheared off a couple of weeks ago and as it exited the engine bay broke one of the air conn pipes. Typically it wasn't the short one but the long one that doesn't have any visible joins in it. Question is, how much to replace and how difficult? I presume i can't just join it with a bit of rubber hose and a couple of jubilee clips ;) Quote
gregers Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 nowing from whats been posted about pipes to do with the aircon its bound to be expensive, but also be aware you will need to have your system refilled iirc kwikfit are still doing there deal. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 What model and which pipe? They vary according to model. I have replaced one of the pipes that connected to a long pipe but you need to be more specific. Quote
ooo000ooo Posted May 27, 2009 Author Report Posted May 27, 2009 What model and which pipe? They vary according to model. I have replaced one of the pipes that connected to a long pipe but you need to be more specific. It's a 2004 alhambra tdi 115bhp, there's 2 pipes come off the compressor(?) one short one which goes to the air conn radiator, the other longer pipe bends over to the drivers side wing and disappears off into the interior. It's the long one which is broken. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 I think that one has a join under the offside headlamp - You either need to take the whole front of the car off or as I did you take out the headlamp and then cut the glass fibre away to enable you to reach the joint. The other end I think is down behind the engine on the right had side (looking from the front). You need a special toll to remove the pipes it's not expensive and you can find them on Flea bay. The pipes can be bought from Ford or VW - But depending on where the break is you may be able to get it repaired in situ - which is probably going to be the cheapest option!. Quote

My mechanic apparently took my galaxy to aircon and heating engineer down the road when air con pipework needed replacing. He did it for around Quote
