Barnesyboy Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 I supposedly own a Galaxy MkIII Ghia, it has the Ghia trim etc and was to me as a Ghia but during a visit to a Vauxhall garage I got my car valued, the sales guy came back with a printout for a Ford Galaxy LX. When I got home I have checked the V5 and it does indeed say Galaxy LX TDCI 125 6G. What do other owners have on their registration documents? Do they say Ghia if you own a Ghia. Thanks Kerry (Mr) Quote
jkspoff Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Go to http://www.rac.co.uk/web/vehicle-checks/car-data-check/type in your registration number in the box and follow the instructions, for free it'll tell you the make and model and year etc before you have to pay anything. Quote

Barnesyboy Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 As per the RAC one, its totally free for this info.I spoke to the garage (Ford main dealer) that sold me the car and they suggested I speak with DVLA. It wasn't brand new from them and had 3000 miles on it but would imply they didn't do any checking on it or didn't care that it was the wrong car so long as it wasn't stolen or had bad credit against it. I'll wait to see what DVLA have to say. Quote
mumof4 Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 does the car not have the Ghia badge on it?? as i assumed all ghias did. as for the dealer that sold you the car..they are bloody idiots if they cant tell a ghia from an LX!!..Plus i believe a ghia costs more, so if you do have an LX, but paid ghia price which may be more..then you may be entitled to a refund of sorts.. i could be wrong though mind.. Quote

gregers Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 if they have sold you an inferior car which was advertised as a higher spec ghia then i think your next port of call should be the trade and standards peeps who im pretty sure will back you to the hilt and give the supplying dealer a very painful slap round the legs.have you got any proof of advertising of them saying it is a ghia,as they say pen is mightier then the sword. jkspoff Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Just check the specifications against the Ghia spec, if it has it then its a Ghia ??Radiotwo: the RAC link works for free when you put in the vehicle reg and click next, it then gives you the vehicle spec only before the Quote

suzuki91 Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 the DVLA are notorious for making errors on these papers, they are at the moment omiting driver license details like class of vehicle you can drive and adding ones you have no test certificate for. lots of people are losing motorcyle class details when they change address, and they refuse to accept an error has occured. means you have to retake the tests as the pass certificate is sent to them to update your details.... I agree with wot he said^^^, I know of someone recently who passed his Class 2 hgv and the license came back with Class 1 :) , another was to have cat 'D' added, which they did, but they removed cat 'B' as well  . If your license is very important to you, get a photocopy and get it certified (ie signed by a solicitor/notary/JP) before you send it to DVLA. They will not accept pass certificates, photocopies or any other manner of proof of your entitlements when they cock up! Quote
