Vw Sharan 1.8 T Gearbox

hi ive just been given a w plate sharan 1.8t with 140 k on it , when its cold the gearbox is ok but once warm it makes a terible noise , the person who gave it to me said it would need a gearbox in it , will it be a special or can i get one from a golf/passat , also what do you think it will fetch once fixed its the top of the range carat model???

does anyone have a gearbox for it

I would say it's the same gearbox although it may have a slightly lower final drive ratio than the lighter Golfs and Passats (Passat much more likely to be the same gearbox).

 

You can get the gearbox code off the casting and compare it to others.

 

You can put thicker oil in it to quieten it down while you find another 'box.

apparently its the same gearbox as the 2.3 v5 sharan and that is all that will fit the gearbox code is dtr if that helps tha engine code is ajh

i dont think so , have you ever seen a mk1 sharan 1.8 turbo or a 2.3 v5 , i havent :rolleyes:

well get a bigger white stick and swing it about a bit more :rolleyes: as for the 2.3 V5 it was never in the Sharan only in the Golf and Passat for a brief while

what do you think it will be worth , now ive got it its done 158k and is tested till apri 18th its in good condition , now ive driven it it feels like a clutch issue the clutch doesnt seen to go down far causing it to grind into first on stand still , the car is for sale
