Marshman Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Appologises now, if this is a silly question, but I have developed a fault that whenever I attempt to use the read wiper, the blue 15amp fuse blows. All works ok on the front, but again when ever I use the rear wiper the fuse blows again. I am planning on having a proper look this weekend, but was looking for some pointers, on where to start first. My first instinct is to check the cables where they come from the car in the the book lid, but don't know how easy that is and if there is any advise on what order I should check things. I have a habit of starting the biggest job first and then finding out the issue was just a 5 minute job some where else. Thanks in advance. Quote
seatkid Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 (edited) Check the wires in the rubber gaitor to the tail gate. They break and rub together, the insulation peels off causing open and short circuits. Known problem. Edited December 5, 2008 by seatkid Quote
Marshman Posted January 16, 2009 Author Report Posted January 16, 2009 Found 4 wires that had broken or had the plastic cover split. Repaired them, but wondered if it is possile to buy a new wiring loom, and any suggests on where, cost and the best place to but it? Appologises if this sounds like a silly question, just wondered if it would have been easier to replace or repair Quote
gregers Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 all you need to do is solder some extra wire to the broken ones and heat shrink it,which you can buy from maplins this has been covered many times on here, havnt gt a clue on how much a new wiring loom would cost, maybe your big toe or your whole foot :o certainly easier to join some wires then replace the whole lot. Daniel Overton Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 Which fuse is the rear wiper fuse? My rear wiper worked intamitantly for a few days and then stopped when i made a short in the boot joint that blew some fuses. (number plate lights didnt work because wire was snapped in the boot joint and car failed MOT - only thing to fail YIPPEE). I just dont know which fuse is the rear wiper fuse, there isnt any indication on the fuse flap and i dont fancy tryin to pull each one out to check it - (my fingers are too chubby - lol). Quote
