Veejay Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Anyone know why Ford dealers will literally coarse you to use a non-ford part. All the dealers I have spoken to seem to be doing this whenever I enquire about getting a retractable towbar fitted! They are bent on raising the price as high as possible to persuade you to use their non-ford alternatives. Are they likely to do the same with other parts?Any ideas to help me make sense of this will be useful Quote
insider Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 I guess it's because Ford don't make towbars, they make cars.Dealers are independent of the car manufacturers and are free to sell whatever range of accessories they like. They will obviously have the Ford approved type available within this range but it certainly won't be the cheapest. When it comes to servicing or repairing your car, however, they must use Ford approved replacement parts. stevie m Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 I had a towbar fitted recently. I wouldn't use a dealer i used a company called towequipe. They were very good and all companies sell retractable ones or ones you can remove. Some towbars mean your bumper may have to be cut even though they are expensive. Shop around and get a good deal i'm sure they will all be as good as ford. Quote
