traguar Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Hi All.I've just bought (but not collected) a 2001 1.9TDI Sharan (I know) Carat Double Red Eye ;) and just wanted to say Hi before asking anything. It'll replace a Volvo S60 T5 that's getting expensive to run and having had an Alhambra as a hire car for touring France a few years ago I decided this was a good (read cheaper to run) replacement. It'll be used carry the three of us (adults) and a couple of cats on holiday and generally around the place. Now for the question - can someone tell me what the Red Eye means and what kind of kit it should have compared to standard?thanks in advanceLuc. Quote
Mary Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 Hi Welcome to the forum. Hope you find all the answers your looking for on here. As to your question.........When I have red eye its either to much drink or conjunctivitis :o Mary :o Quote
mumof4 Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 Never heard of red eye, but unlike mary who has a fetish for clingfilm wrapped toes, drink and eye infections, my red eyes are due to lack of sleep :o Quote
stevie m Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Hi All.I've just bought (but not collected) a 2001 1.9TDI Sharan (I know) Carat Double Red Eye :D and just wanted to say Hi before asking anything. It'll replace a Volvo S60 T5 that's getting expensive to run and having had an Alhambra as a hire car for touring France a few years ago I decided this was a good (read cheaper to run) replacement. Hi Luc,I always thought the red eye was something to do with the sharan having 130bhp in that model. If it has any extra features due to that i don't know ? I can't believe you are getting rid of a volvo s60. The d5's are good on fuel i have one :o . I have aslo heard that volvos can fit 13 people in them :o . Well when you do pick up your sharan i hope you get many trouble free motoring miles. Welcome Quote

Welcome Hi, I'm not sure a 2001 model would be 150bhp (well, before I get my hands on it anyway). The volvo has to go as it's a T5 300 bhp petrol with an autobox so does 20mpg around town (if driven like a nun) and 30-35 on an M-way cruise. With fuel cost being this high I cannot afford to pay for the fuel to go and see my family in Wales (VW will save Quote
Mirez Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 I thought the red eye was to do with leather - red eye being half leather and double red eye being full leather? I could be compleatly wrong on this one though :D Quote
traguar Posted July 17, 2008 Author Report Posted July 17, 2008 Well, it does have full leather so you could well be right.I can't find anything about it anywhere though.... Quote
big_kev Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 Red Eye..... means Red i Double red eye.....means Red di Dont know if a triple red eye exists but if it did all of Tdi would be red. Remember a post somewhere with the engine sizes relating to this, will try and find it before someone beats me to it. Quote
tiny Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 (edited) On the Golf, TD with a red i, was the way they badged the 115, T with a red Di was the 130,and an all red TDi was a 150. Perhaps that carries on over other VAG models. Edited July 17, 2008 by tiny Quote
