Digger15 Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Need some help please !! 2.0 Ghia failed its emissions again this year had new CAT and Lamda sensor last year and just scrapped through, this year its failed again but only on fast idle. Been told by local ford garage to change oil +filter, petrol filter and then put an additive in then give it a quick blast down the motorway then get it re-checked, it should pass?? If not change the CAT again which is costly. Anybody had previous problems with there's and how did you get round it? :) Quote
seatkid Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Did you use a genuine Ford Lambda sensor or a cheap "Universal" lambda sensor? I've read the universal sensors are no good in this application. Quote
tiny Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 (edited) Do a forum search for MOT failures, there loads of posts covering issues with the secondary airpump causing emission related failures on 2.0 petrols. IIRC there is a problem if your pump isnt working with the ECU overfuelling and thereby causing higher emissions. Someone even replaced the pump with a bulb to fool the ecu into thinking the pump was ok. Heres a link to what is probably the most helpful thread.Emissions MOT Fail Edited June 16, 2008 by tiny Quote
MadBaz Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Yep, I agree with Tiny, BTW mine passed its MOT, after changing a lower ball joint, Bulb in place of secondary Air Pump is still doing it's job. Quote
Digger15 Posted June 17, 2008 Author Report Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) Yes guys genuine Ford Lambda sensor fitted but been told thats not at fault, finally found the fault which was the fuel pressure regulator and air temp sensor. Picking up the old gal tomorrow but 300 notes lighter in my pocket. ouch!! Edited June 17, 2008 by Digger15 Quote
