mutleybrookes Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 hi guys tried looking in the faq's for an aswer, probably missed it!so i'll ask the question the tailgate lock has just started to stay open in other words it wont lock! close the back door and then you can just lift it open again the mechanism that closes around the fixed latch moves backwards and forwards but wont stop in the locked positionmany thanks for the anticipated words of direction! Any connection?? probably not, and that is the problem, broken wiring in the O/S gaiter linking the door and body, about 13 wires in there, has been covered before. However the bootlock has a manual operation not dependant on the Central locking, so methinks something is awry with the lock as well. Quote
mumof4 Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 I have the same prob but slightly different, my tailgate is always locked will only unlock with the key and soon as its shut, its locked again, even without useing the key to lock it. any one mention the wiring?? ;) ;) Quote
hotleaduk Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 Yes I had the same problem, it was always locked and I had to use the key to unlock. The wire in the the tailgate was broken, soldered it and all was well Quote
mutleybrookes Posted May 8, 2008 Author Report Posted May 8, 2008 yeah thanks for the advice, checked wiring on top of tailgate, wires broken, got the rear wiper working, connected another and now the interior lights work in the back, however when the taigate goes down it still doesn't lock and the interior lights stay on i can see that they are connected to the lock by tracing the wiring, my next questions are... how does the lock work i can see two wires going in so i'm presumming theres some kind of electro-mechanical locking device which probably isn't working (sorry thats the best way i could phrase it) and 2, how does the central locking release the tailgate lock as looking at mine it doesn't appear to be linked to anything....regards Quote
