Just wanted to get stuck in, as it were...

I'm quite eager to get hold of a Galaxy - I imagine it would be quite different to driving a 1.9 '94 reg Clio Diesel :P Think the kids might appreciate the extra room too, it's been a squeeze getting them lot in to the back seats, all three needing booster seats or child seats. Eek.

Of course, I've only been driving 6 months as well, so I'm probably going to keep driving in to things, and taking 20 minutes to park the damn thing (or both). Of course, the missus will be tutting and telling me how she would do it the whole time. ;)

Hi, welcome to the forum. One thing i liked about the galaxy was the ease in which i found it to park, considering it's size it was easier than parking a small car although mine was a mkII with parking sensors. I bet you could tell us mum ! Is the mk1 easy to park or was your veccy better ????

I hope when you get your first gal (if that is what you choose) you get many trouble free miles enjoy browsing through the forum.

since i hate paralell parking, took me ten mins to park the gal when i first got it, parking sensors are a good thing, but i must admit that now, shes just as easy to park as the vectra or my MKII that i used to have.

Hi there

Welcome to the forum. I am a recent driver of an MPV R reg Sharan. I ended up with it cos it was the cheapest nearest one I could get!!

It was a bit scary parking it to begin with but got the hang of it now. When I sit in a normal car now i feel as if my butt is trailing on the ground!!

Good luck in your search

Mary :)

Michael ....... have you had a look at the tax bracket for the 2.3? I reckon you're better off looking for a diesel and yes 90bhp is adequate. The 1.9Tdi is an excellent engine and very reliable bearing in mind it is a VW unit. Try and look for a Tdi with the Ghia spec and don't worry about high mileage if it has a good service history.

.......... I'm talking out of my bottom again ......it's pre 2003 so no need to worry about the tax bracket.

I have a 1998 Sharan 1.9TDi with 240000 on the clock and its running great so far more than adaquate. Pulls caravan fine to. (yes we have a caravan great for annoying peeps on the road ;) ) Engine barely run in.................my father in law has one and its done 530000miles so far and still going strong.

Well I've done it - I've bought a 1998 model Ford Galaxy 2.3i Ghia X. She's in beautiful condition, one dent mark, one crushed sill, very clean interior and she runs like a dream. It had the clutch replaced a couple of months ago, and you can tell the difference. My car expert friend couldn't believe the good condition of the car for its age, and he gave the engine a good battering on the test drive, and it responded well to everything.

I sorted out the insurance and gave it a drive home, and I have to say that it is a great car.

I hope that I've got many carefree years ahead driving this baby.
