jamesey Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 this will sound strange but my battery went flat and when i came to jump start it the double central locking and the alarm that had stopped working started working again , i ended up putting a new battery on the motor anyway and when i come to start the car the hazzards were flashing and the rev counter and speedo went right round and back is this normal for a battery swap , i couldnt turn the hazzards off it must have been an allarm thing. insider Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 Sounds like an electrical fault that caused the battery to go flat in the first place. Check for a short circuit in the alarm, hazard lights, central locking wiring. Quote
jamesey Posted April 10, 2008 Author Report Posted April 10, 2008 i had it plugged into a vag machine and it came up with a hazzard short on the alarm but ive not got a clue where the alarm control box is for the hazzard side of it ,,, the hazzard warning lights work fine with the manual switch on the steering wheel , id just rather have no alarm at all , is there a plug to pull so there is no alarm , i still want the central locking thou ... sepulchrave Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 If it's a Mark 1 like mine you can just twist the key twice when you lock it to disable the alarm/immobiliser. Quote
jamesey Posted April 10, 2008 Author Report Posted April 10, 2008 yes its a mk 1 , so i just turn to the rear to lock the car and do it again to stop the alarm from activating????? , i dont have the remote central locking working as my key has bust so i just lock with the door lock , thanks ill try this in the morn Quote
