Bloody French Cars

A bit of a long shot but does anyone know of a common reason for the engine management light comming on on my wifes wonderfull french Megane.

Only came on today but has had a bit of a lumpy tickover for a few weeks now but still goes well enough.

Not happy about spending much money on the pile of poo so i thought id just ask on here to see if any you guys had a clue.

Its a 1.6 16v by the way.

 

May be time to pass it on to some other lucky punter me thinks.

There is no history with it so hard to tell when it was last done so theres a good chance it does.

There is a seperate service warning light on the dash though so i would have thought that would have come on if that was the case

Thanks for that. Looks a great web site, havnt seen it before.

I was wondering about the coil packs as i changed two of them about six weeks ago and its had the lumpy tickover ever since. Maybe i disturbed one when i was swapping it around trying to find the faulty ones.

Trouble is the wife wants to part ex it so not wanting to spend any money on it but need to get the light off first.

Try gsf aswell if it is near you. They are very reasonable. I don't blame you for trading it in i have heard french cars tend to have problems more than others and are the most common to break down (RAC man told me when i broke down in my saxo.......nuf said :angry: ). Good luck with the repair let me know if it's that that is the cause of it.
