Galaxy Diagnostic Software Name?

Does anyone know the name of the Ford Diagnostic software you can buy for your laptop. The one that plugs into the serial port on the galaxy and then into a laptop and works on windows?

It's called VAG.COM and you get it from Ross Tech - they're on the web.

Is it easy to use and worth the money and which vag com software do I need for my Ford Galaxy? The cheapest one I hope. :o

I might be wrong, but as you have a 2.3 with Ford PCM, I believe VAG-com will be of limited use. The Ford equivalent (as used by dealers) is called IDS, and is expensive and difficult to get.

you need scantool and the ford plug in unit all on ebay. the vag unit will only reset airbags

I think the Mk1 is under the ashtray , on my Mk2 it is below the fuse box on the drivers side

Mines under ashtray, as stated some mk2 are under fuses box.

I see these Memoscan devices work on all ODBII compliant vehicles and list the Fords but they do not list the VWs. The manufacturer lists a separate product for VAG cars but this is not listed as compatible with Fords.

 

As I have a Gal (VW engine and electronics) and a Focus (07), is there one handheld product that will do both?

Thanks to all who came back to me on location of plug. I've looked under my ashtray (by removing the tray) and there's nothing there. Will check below the fuse box.

take out the complete ashtray as its in 2 parts inner and outer and look towards the front thats where it is

ALL european cars have to be OBD2 compliant from 1996, so the memoscan will read the VW and reset ecu, the VAG.com is the like tech2 for vauxhall. software design to do more programing to their ecu's.
