Guest mrsiep Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 with regards to the regulater if u have removed the spool and cable i would b surprised that u will get it back together. a slight kink stops it running freely. had the same prob bought new regulator with no motor from vw dealer Quote
gazza64 Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 hi nick ,can you tell me how you fixed the cable as mine has snapped as well, im wondering if the cable can be repaired instead of buying a new unit. kind regards garzza64. Quote
zorgman Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 cant explain how to do it as youve got to get the cable wound up right but i went to a local cycle shop and bought 4m of brake cable inner, took off the offending cable that was frayed and made my own up total cost was Quote
Mike P Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 I had similar problems with three doors on my last 1997 Galaxy, the fault was the loom between the door pillar and the door, cables there are subject to continuous bending and stressing.I found several cables to have snapped at the connector inside the protective sheathing, I managed to solder them back together with no further problems. Quite tricky and fiddly though. Quote
mumof4 Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 jeeze, yes very fiddly, if i still had the pics when i did my regulator and tried fixing one from a donor, id be able to post pics, but i lost em when the pc through a strop just before xmas and i lost a lot of stuff. the cable round the spool has to be tight, and is a right barsteward as it doesnt like to be would tight and stay in place, Quote
danjwilson Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 Hi Folks. New here. Seen quite a few posts on window issues, but nothing exactly describing the fault I have:- When the window's been saturated for a while (heavy rain or car wash) the downward movement is very jerky with a heavy thud at the end of travel. Also, under certain conditions the overload will cut in on upward travel. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar and made adjustments? Quote
