Mikef Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 What are the latest opions on which blades to get? Is it worth spending Quote
MrT Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 The Bosch Aero blades are better than the Fords. However you may find you could need to change the arms as well as the blades as the fittings may be different. I needed to change the arms and blades on mine around three years ago but the aero blades may come with more fittings nowadays. Quote
searcher Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 I bought the Bosch ones on the Gal i used to own and they were fine.Sold the car about six weeks after and forgot to take them off and put the old ones back on.Would have been handy now ive gone back to the Ally. Quote

gregers Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 have seen refills on sale on ebay, dunno if they are any good? Quote
Guest Rockdoctor Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 I bought refills from a German company on ebay. Cheap as chipsThey came very quickly, in an envelope that looked far too small - but they were fine - the rubber strips don't take up much space. There was a sheet of instructions - mainly pictures I think. The only tricky bit is taking off the plastic caps at the end of the blades, to access the metal clips that hold the rubber in place. The secret is to grip tightly with pliers, and pull sharply and VERY firmly. Once the caps were off (you only need to take off one, but you can't tell which one in advance, so you may or may not be lucky with the first try) you bend a little metal clip to release the old rubber. Slide it out and use it to measure against the new rubber, which is supplied too long. Cut to the right length, slide into place, bend clip back to hold in place, push back plastic cap and you're done. Would take 5 minutes in total if you had already done it, but I faffed around for quarter of an hour. It was great to use the new blades soon after in a rainstorm and have them sweep perfectly clean, unlike the ones that came with the car which juddered and smeared badly. I used these guys... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/f-Aerotwin-Scheibenw...1QQcmdZViewItem ...who charge about Quote

Airrex7 Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Hello Rockdoctor, Came across your post & link, the info was excellent but I have some questions. My vehicle is an 03 Galaxy petrol. Are you saying orignal wiper arms don't need replacing, just the blades themselves to be able to benift from the areotwin design? You say you have to remove plastic cap but can't tell in advance, which end did you remove, top or the bottom of the arms? Because the link is in German, the link you provided, are you able to say if those blades would they fit my year Galaxy? Quote

BrianAll Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Hi, purchased a pair on Monday 4 Feb at local parts supplier Panks of Norwich as I had MOT today. (Passed, phew!) Brand details: Valeo, 2 blades with metal frame and plastic clips. Replaced in a couple of minutes the 2 curved Bosch ones already on. Cost: Quote
paul2468 Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Hi. I believe that Eurocarparts sell the aero blades cheaper than the main dealers. They also sell retro fit aero blade kits for varius makes. Quote

Mikef Posted February 7, 2008 Author Report Posted February 7, 2008 Thanks for the reply guys....wiperblades.co.uk sell Bosch ones that seem to just fit on straight away (to an 02 Galaxy), I dont need new arms. Or the rubber replacement route sounds interesting cheers all mikef Quote
neiluk Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Does anyone think either of these wipers would be able to replace my banana blades? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=018 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=006 They both look as thought they fit onto a curved end of the wiper blade. Is this what my ends would look like? I've not taken the wipers off so far. Which set (if either) would you buy? Thanks in advance for your opinions. Neil. Quote
