stevie m Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Hi butch, firstly welcome to this forum, we are a friendly bunch here. There have been posts on here about the leads on ebay IIRC most people say they are ok. Personally i have a different reader. It seems to find the right faults and does a decent job you can get it off the net for 43 quid that includes the delivery. ,im at work at the moment so i cant remember the website but if you want to know post a reply and i will look when i get home mate. stevie.m Quote
butch Posted January 31, 2008 Author Report Posted January 31, 2008 HelloCome on guys and gals i need some more help with my fault, please help me out, and is there anyone in the forest of dean area (gloucestershire) with vag-com that can read the faults on my car i think this will help out lots.thankssteve (butch) Quote
mumof4 Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 the car is going into limp home mode.Did you do the MAF test before you put a new MAF on?? try and do it again, if the car is worse with it disconnected, then the problem isnt the MAF, it could be turbo related, have you checked the hoses for any splits/leaks or even looked to see if a hose has become disconnected?. Keep having a search of the forum useing different keywords. as for vag com, sorry..i cant help as i never used it myself.Failing that you could try a local auto electrician, they are usually a lot cheaper than fords and some independant garages have this equipment now aswell. butch Posted February 2, 2008 Author Report Posted February 2, 2008 Hi mumof4thanks for the info, i dont think its the maf, and you are right i thinks its in limp home mode, have just got a vag-com lead of ebay so will try and plug that into the car and rip the codes out that way it may point to the fault on the car, i will let you know how i get onthanksbutch (steve) Quote
butch Posted February 5, 2008 Author Report Posted February 5, 2008 Hi All Just to let you know i now have the vag-com lead and free softwareso when i get time i will try and scan the car and see if i get any codes, will let you all know how i get onsteve(butch) Quote
norwichbluenose Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 It could be a problem with your turbo over running (varable turbo on 1.9) try disconnect the battery to see if it reset it. ANDY Quote
?Bleeno? Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 if you turn the car off then back on it will be ok but if you rev it past about 2800rpm then i get the fault back This does sound like turbo overpressure / VNT Butch and I reckon once you've got the fault codes it'll give you a good idea. If you do a search for VNT this will give you an idea of what and how it operates. Good luck Quote
butch Posted February 8, 2008 Author Report Posted February 8, 2008 Hi Allwell just to let you all know i found the fault with the car, i had a good look on this site and it was a great help, the fault i found was there was a split on the big vac pipe from the pump to the servo, so i just cut out the split bit of pipe and put a new bit in, one more thing when i had this fault i had a hard brakethanks to all and keep up the good work Quote
