r&s Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Hi I have a 2001 galaxy tdi 1.8. The other day the key fob stopped locking and unlocking the doors. I thought it maybe the batteries but have noticed that the light flashes when I press the button. Does anyone know if I should just change the batteries first, if so which batteries do I need, to see if this works or does it sound like it could be something else. I have to use the key manually and on a couple of occasions when unlocking or locking the door it will put front windows down / up. Many thanks. Quote
mumof4 Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 when you are locking/unlocking the doors manually, the windows going up and down is the global closeing/opening.this happens if you turn the key and hold it in position. does the light flash on the door LED? if so, how does it flash , does it flash in a pattern.? r&s Posted January 27, 2008 Author Report Posted January 27, 2008 Hi Mumof4 Thanks for explaining about the windows. The light on the door does flash is flashes once about every second. Quote
mumof4 Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 How many remote keys do you have? Quote
r&s Posted January 27, 2008 Author Report Posted January 27, 2008 Only one remote, the spare one is just like a normal key. Quote
mumof4 Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 there is something in the FAQs about keys a reprogrmming them, cant remember if you need two remote keys though. It could be that the battery is running low, could be an immobiliser problem, if your central locking unit is under the passenger seat, might be worth checking to see if it has got wet/damp at all as the rear washer pipe if it splits likes to shed its water in the passenger footwell. I dont know enough about keys to help you any more im afraid, a search might help? hopefully that is working again.will have a check now. Quote

JohnnyH Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 (edited) Im having a simular problem with my galaxy 2003 tdi when I purchased the bus the remote key didnt work but the light on the key throb and the led on the drivers door flashes when locked with the key. I tryied the recoding on the original key that came with the bus and had no joy. I went to a local scrap yard to get a rear wiper arm and asked if they had a galaxy key throb which after many attempts to code it i got the thing to work once. i changed the batteries on the throb i got from the scrap yard and it worked fine for 2 days now this throb no longer works. So you think it was just bad luck and its a common fault for the throb to just give up the ghost or you thing i have an intermitant fault with the control box (which is not under the passenger seat on my model) Edited January 29, 2008 by JohnnyH Quote
