Is it normal for my (and a friends') TDI to emit nasty smelling exhaust fumes? Our local Ford dealer in Cardiff recons that it is normal this time of year due to the lower temperatures for the TDI to smell more smokey as there is some liquid being used???-(anyone know of this?) Also my friend has a 05 plate Galaxy and he has noticed emissions comming out near the rear passenger's side! Apparenly there is some sort of extra exhaust sited near there?

If anyone has any clarification on the above, it would be much appreciated!

Cheer, Jon

the smell is the Aux Heater located under the nearside rear door/wheelarch area. There are probably 1000 plus posts on this subject - look through the forum and all will be revealed!!

Mine seem to smell of fuel at this time of year. The smoke will be the heater. I have fixed mine recently and the smell is still there. Not the smoke tho.

Your lucky that your exhaust is smoking at all ! at least something is happening. I've just realised that mine has never worked at all.

Went to the Seat dealer it was purchased from, (still under second hand warranty) and was told that it was not covered and wanted

I think this forum is brill ! People help each other save a bit of cash by doing SOME jobs ourselves and not getting ripped off by the dealers. If i was you i would tell your dealers to join this ! Maybe they will learn something about the cars they sell too.....  :D

I have just noticed that my Galaxy is also smoking in the area of the passenger rear door. It appears from this thread that it is the Aux Heater Can anyone direct me to a thread that gives me direction to fix it.

Thanks
