skippy 2 Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 Hi I want to know if a waranty is worth it if my gal is a 1998. I have been stitched up by a warranty company in the past and i don't trust them. Do i go and get a warranty and if something goes wrong will they pay for it?? Or do I continue to service my gal myself and rectify problems as and when they arise? I would like some of your thoughts to this subject. Quote
stevie m Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 I would take out a warranty if it was only Quote

stevie m Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 That warranty seems a bit cheap to me mate. Im sure i looked in to this earlier today when i reponded to this post and found them around twice that. i just looked up one on the net for my car but with only 120,000 miles (can't cover mine as it has done more 163,000) over three years it came to Quote

stevie m Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Looking at the age for your car this could be a problem because it is 10 years old. Companies like these do warranty on cars but they say that a car must be no more than 10 years old and list other critera to meet. There is a bit of info as to what is covered. So if you find warranty to cover yours at least you know things that could get covered in it. Quote
stevie m Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Just been looking again for you on the net. Try these too. When i put details in the age box it went back further than 1998. I have to go to work now and not knowing more details of your car i couldn't go any further and get a quote. I hope you get a good one mate. Stevie.m Quote

I don't know why coz I have heard some bad stories about iffy services. Quote
gregers Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 well theres a surprise,i received a phone call from warranty direct this afternoon, the normal spiel from the salesman he asked me why i hadnt completed the deal so i told him you were too bloody expensive, and within 1 minute he dropped the price by 50 quid, told him there were plenty more warranty company's out there and i would be looking into what the others offer me,he then said BUT DO THEY OFFER WHAT WE OFFER,dunno i said aint asked em yet,but dont worry coz i will.he said he'd give me a ring in a weeks time.........wonder how much they will end up dropping????????? SKIPPY,is that right about having too have your car serviced at a garage???coz i get a m8 to do mine(and its free  ) Quote

SKIPPY,is that right about having too have your car serviced at a garage???coz i get a m8 to do mine(and its free  )Yeah if you check out the conditions of most waranties they specifically require the car to be serviced at the manufacturers recommended intervals and has to be carried out by a garage and proof or stamp or whatever you want call it. So the cost of a service an MOT, insurance and tax and waranty premiums adds up to a lot of money. I know its a risk but surely it must be a saving if you dont pay for a waranty and take the sh*t when it hits the fan. Quote

If it was me i would rather but aside a few quid in the bank each month and then it's there for those times when the s**t comes. Preventative maintenance is the key i reckon. The amount of times things seem to go wrong then bloomin heck there is sumat else too. Waranty companies make money out of selling them,so, if we all saved money by taking them out how could they make any ? ;) Quote
