adrianf. Posted January 7, 2008 Author Report Posted January 7, 2008 on the internet, most companies will give you a discount for buying online. Thats fair enough but why should the SAME company offer me the same policy Quote
stevie m Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 The reason companies offer a discount for buying online is that they have not got to pay any commission to insurance brokers or agents. This can be as high as 15% for the larger brokers. The insurance company also needs less staff to deal with insurance this way, thereby saving further money. Also, if you get a high renewal premium it may be an idea to ring the company, they may give you a discount to retain your business. Most larger companies have retention departments. I did this and saved approximately Quote
adrianf. Posted January 7, 2008 Author Report Posted January 7, 2008 I did but they were still about Quote
stevie m Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Then i don't blame you for changing. Elephant.co.uk is owned by Admiral Group plc, so you shouldn't have any problems. I would just advise you to check the small print to ensure you are getting like for like insurance. It's great to see people shopping around, not enough do. Quote
Saif Rehman Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Adrian, I have the same problem with More>Than. Last year (12/06) when i got my Galaxy, i was quoted around the Quote
mumof4 Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 another thing to consider, is maybe having the mrs down as the main driver, when i first was insured to drive the gal under a provisional, the insurance was 400 quid cheaper when i was down as the main driver, other wise it was above the 1k mark. ( numpty had 9 points and a claim under his belt) diamond is also part of the Admiral group. Quote
stevie m Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 I know More>Than very, very, well (knowing someone who worked in there for over 20 years). This is common. This was the company i got my discount with. They are the second biggest insurer in the uk behind zenith. I should imagine that comparison websites make their money out of it as well. The only way to get a deal with them seems to be to get to that retention dept. If you do change just make sure that the deal is as good elsewhere if not better. Read all the details in small print. Yes granted we don't want to have an accident in our gals, but, if we do we want the best cover. Quote

Sorry got a bit caried away there i think She hardly ever drives the Ally so not sure i would want to put her down as main driver, anyway ive got much more NCD than she has. The paperwork should be in the post today so will give it a good going over but when i spoke to them on the phone yesterday they read it all back to me and it was spot on Adrian. Quote
Saif Rehman Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Right, finally got it sorted out but read on and be amazed! 27/12/06 - Got Galaxy, Insurance with More Than at Quote
