skippy 2 Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 Hi everyone Happy New Year!! Ive been chatting to steve m and advised me to ask any anyone that can advise. I used to have a vauxhall sintra 3.0 v6 24valve. I have now got a gal 2.8 vr6 and i think it is a 12valve can someone enlighten me on the difference between the two and what performance I should expect. On my old vauxhall it used to move smoothly very quickly if i put it in gear it would drive on its own without me touching the pedals not that this is a good thing. I would just like to know if i am getting a good performance from my gal. It does run and work ok and have no probs I have only had it 6 months it has done 28000 miles and is a 1998 model, yes the milage is genuine i have all the japanese history to confirm it. Quote
stevie m Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 2000-06 has this amount of valves  Quote
skippy 2 Posted January 1, 2008 Author Report Posted January 1, 2008 I can help a bit V6 ReviewThanks for that stevie m I have a mk1 gal 1998 and ime not sure if the spec you gave is the same as mine they changed things on these gals so often. I would like to see if anyone has any experiences in this. Someone that maybe has the same spec as mine or knows about them because of the constant changing of spec. Quote

mk2vr6 Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 12v VR6 174bhp, 24v VR6 200bhp the 12v has remained the same engine through out it's life in the galaxy as has the 24v, both capable of scareing a few hot hatches and hitting way above the legal speed limit! where permitted! just ask my eldest who grassed me up to her mother about me hitting 138mph+ (gps) :P it's not known for being quick off the mark as are none of the range really, it's a brick but get it up to cruiseing speed and watch the little cars fade into the background along with the tdi plastic shed pullers :D but! if yours if an auto? then you wont get rocket ship performance! the auto box sucks power and the enjoyment out driveing :P as for upping the performance? free flow filter, exhaust and manifold, ported head, VSR/Shrick Manifold and for real umph! a turbo or supercharger are the way to go along with a cc increase, all available from most good Vw tuners at a great loss to your pocket! so either live with it or buy something else to play in at the week end :D Quote

I normally throw it in 3rd if I hit an incline this gives it the boost early enough before the car slows and jumps through the gears. I find this quite helpful and surprises people of what power it has. Quote
