skippy 2 Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 Just thought after reading through the forum reference to Tom Toms well I have a Smartnav system that I got through my insurance. All you do is set up an insurance policy for your car and with a once off payment you get an up to minute satalite system. It's great!! Quote

stevie m Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 (edited) That sounds good. Shame mine doesn't do that but i can't have it all. If i read the road signs on the motorways i can get by, i can come off at a junction and avoid the motorway i have been on, having said that i can't tell if the congestion has cleared. I travel up and down all the motorways all the time so i get to know many hot spots. It is depressing tho sitting in a jam. The M25 seems to be like that all the time. Edited December 31, 2007 by stevie m Quote

Evertime I ask for a route they charge me 12 pence I think. I don't pay a subscription I pay as you go. You buy blocks of Quote
skippy 2 Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007 You pay by credit card ?I paid by debit card so it was really handy I don't know what would happen if you didn;t have it with you though but im'e sure they wouldn't let you down I would'nt of thought. Quote
stevie m Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Remember at the end of the day it's all about money for them. Make sure you have it with you. I'm the type of person that would forget it ! Quote

I'm the type of person that would forget it ! :rolleyes:Something that I failed to mention RAC technicians installed it they put in a speaker behind the facia a button for comunications a microphone and an arial about the size of a tax disc which they put on your screen this all done discreetly and you have to look for them although you can't see the speaker as it is behind the facia but they do a good tidy job. Just going off the subject do you do your own service? Quote

skippy 2 Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007 No mate i always take it to a garage.I have full history on mine why ?I was just wondering I always do my own service I have done on all my cars but they are getting more technical. I always change the oil and filter, air filter if its dirty (don't do much milage) I was just wondering when to change the spark plugs if the car is running fine do I need to change them. Also could yould maybe enlighten me to what the MAF is, and what it does from what I have read on the forum it can be a problem so would it be easier to change it during the service. Quote
stevie m Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Personally for the cost of the plugs i would change them regular but i would get the best. A maf sensor is a part that tells the ecu what fuel is needed and adjust accordingly. If this is faulty then you will notice a difference in performance, fuel, Idling erratically (not in all cases). If you wanted to know if one was faulty you could disconnect it and see if there is a difference. There will be a performance issue if it was working before, but, if you had erratic idling like i did recently then that would stop. If replacing one, the cost is between Quote

Put a post out about it if you are worried. Someone will give you the spec on it. Then you can compare how fast yours is to theirs. I hope i have been of help. Quote
