g4hlf Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 Hi, I ordered a new galaxy with electric rear opening quarted vents however due to a delay in the vehicle been built and a change of spec by ford they managed to deliver the vehicle without them. No big deal for me really and I got the money back for the option but I have a question on what if fitted! It looks to me as thought the motors might be present although t he switches that would normally be in the overhead console are not. Does anyone know what is fitted, is the loom there? are the motors fitted regardless and is it just a case of fitting the switches? Regards, Paul Quote
lukevernon269 Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Same Here. LX & Zetec have a manual opening the Ghia said in the brochure Electric available 4th Qtr 2006 (No Option listed) I ordered in May 2007 arrived Late June Electric motors in place but no switchs!!!! therfore no opening!!!I have told the dealership to order the overhead switch unit and finnish the job. My Old 04 plate had them fitted as standard. More disinformation re Telephone cradle which is about to be pulled due to all the hasstle with all the different types of mobile etc Quote
AndeeeH Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Might be worth reading this thread: http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=13224It sounds as though you could have issues with security if you enable the opening of the rear quarter vents. Andy. Quote
NikpV Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 there was some drivel about security issues at some point, its still offered however when I looked at the configurator recently (last couple of weeks) Quote
Johnny B Goode Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 :) I was also expecting my`56 plate ghia to have electric opening vents after reading the brochure , but it turns out I can`t open them at all ! I guess there must be a reason for this , the Dealer hasn`t got an answer ! Quote
ors Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 When i collected my Galaxy i asked why rear quarters went opening my local dealer looked into it for me and i was informed that Ford had a problem with the wiring looms therefore removed switches!!! They also informed me that they aren't going to retro fit them . Quote
MadBaz Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 I heard somewhere its because it can't have thatcham security status (don't know which level) with quarterlites that open. Maybe worth looking at if your insurance company thinks its thatcham approved and retro-fitting switches invalidates it. (it could be a good get out of paying up clause for your ins co) Quote
mpearson Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Hi, Ordered my 07 Galaxy Ghia and wanted the electric rear quater lights. Although it is still listed as an option in the ford brouchure it has been withdrawn as an option. A stated earlier the Galaxy would not be able to keep its Thatcham class 1 security rating if they are fitted so Ford stopped it. Cheers Quote
buford_t_justice Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 Thought mine were going to be manual as well but instead they are permanently fixed. The motors are in there behind the trim but as you say no switches or wiring to go with it ! Quote

I got my brand new galaxy a couple of weeks ago, and the electric rear quarter lights are electric, have got switches and do open and close! Quote
NikpV Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 well that scotches the 'security' fairy tale  Quote
