Thanks Bleeno, hopefully will be able to get done this week, will me taking the fuse out stop it smoking until it is solved?

 

Yep as this will remove the power supply ...... I can't remember which fuse you need to take out though.

I px'd the car in manchester, so hopefully no one local will come knocking to see if there should of been a heater!

 

Where abouts in Manchester? I got my 2003 52 plate 1.9tdi from a place in Radcliffe just before Christmas.

I have recently joined this site having bought a 2005 (05) Galaxy 115 TDI

 

I'm having real trouble with my auxillary heater I think. Can someone offer any advice?

 

 

The problem appears to me to be very serious, please see my e-mail below:

 

The problem we have at present is a serious one. My wife was taking our two children to school last week when she discovered smoke entering the cabin space of the vehicle. She telephoned me at work, obviously very worried about this. I immediately telephoned the dealer who supplied the vehicle and they quite rightly suggested sorting it out as a matter of urgency.

I think I would check the fan in the heater is working.

It sounds like the vapourised fuel is coming back up the inlet pipe. If the fan was running then the air flow should only be in one direction.

As looks like smoke then I would guess that the glow plug is not completely dead.

 

I've not looked at the fan connections but could it be possible that someone has serviced the heater and wired the fan the wrong way round?

 

You could put your hand near the heater exhaust when it's starting up (ie when its still cold) to feel which way the air is flowing.

 

Also while I'm here does anyone know where to get the bushes for the pump? Oh and also a parking sensor as well! and a motor for the headlamp!!.

Yep as this will remove the power supply ...... I can't remember which fuse you need to take out though.

 

The fuse is number 12 to stop it working ! :unsure:
