lazyb5 Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 Reading this i remember i`ve never got round to sorting out the run on pump. I even have the grinder still with the carbon brushes. Guess this weekend will be a busy one in Peterborough. :D Quote
gregers Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 well i had a phone call this afternoon from the so called experts who said to me WELL YOU DO KNOW IT WONT COME ON UNTIL ITS 5 DEGREES holy shit batman the experts dont even know  :o  ,so i enlightened him a bit,and even pointed him in the direction of this forum if he was having a bit of trouble in fixing these things, they will get back to me............mmmmmm wonder how long that will take :D Quote
crazybear_uk Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 hi after reading about the booster heater and not hearing mine come on i desided to investigate it. today found the censor ok and put mini fuse in hay pressto up she fires but it only runs for about a minute and a half, pipes leading off it get hot and it shuts down acording to vagcom coolant temp is only at 54 deg C is this correct or should i now be looking at the after-run pump. Does this pump run all the time even when booster heater not on? Galaxy 1999 1.9 tdi Ghia x Quote
marinabrid Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 (edited) if yours is a 99 mk1 , i dont think the mk1 has the run on pump, this is only on the mk2 , mine done the same, ran for a minite and half and shut down, cant get it going no way.if anyone knows a sequence to test the supply wires id be grateful. crazybear_uk Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 yes it is a 99 mk1 i have looked at wiring diagram and that shows an additional water pump on the booster heater circuit but there is no other ref to it elsewhere i.e telling you where it is. was going to look tomorrow and see if i can locate it. Have you got VAG Com? and does it pick up the aux heater mine doesnt seem to find itregardsbear Quote
crazybear_uk Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Just had a thought mine is the 110 I Assume that is a MK1 Quote
marinabrid Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 hi, yes we have a mk1 an s plate one of the updated models, ive searched but find no after run pump, on turning engine off aux heater whines a bit then stops. no way can i get the vag com to connect to the aux heat module, the mk2 owners seem to be able to do this. anyone know why this is. Quote
crazybear_uk Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 Mines on a V plate but think its still a MK 1, Anyway it was a baking hot day today so went out to play traced all pipes etc. the booster heater pipes run to the rear heater matrix and then up to the front heater matrix and "T's" off to the engine block, as I said the other day when I bi-passed the censor it would run for a 1-2 minutes till the pipes were hot. Now because the out side temp was around 15 degree Quote

big_kev Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 "I have now removed it as the car is sold"  What does he mean by that ? He removed it and then sold the Car ........! ! Looks a bit dodgy to me...I reckon this is a dud one that was previously replaced. Quote
mike99 Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 no, this is my heater. I have part exed the car and as the salesman pee'd me off a bit and didn't quite offer what I wanted so I decided to take it off as he won't even know it had one. I've only just taken it off this afternoon, If anyone local wants it I can prove it works perfectly. Quote

gregers Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 well my car went back to the peeps who carried out the repair, and i waited and waited then 3hrs later they said they had to take it off to strip it down, they even tried to say that a new one was required(YEAH RIGHT)they soon changed there minds when i TOLD them that as they done the repair id suggest they sort it out sharpish AND THERE WAS NO BLOODY WAY I WAS GOING TO BE PAYING ANYWAY  ,anyway agreed that they could remove it and also told them to make sure they used jubilee clips rather then the spring clamps they used last time that leaked all the coolant out,the chap even had the orriginal part they replaced a block of metal with a plastic fan attached that had melted and fused together and then he told me the unit is from a mk1 :D mmmmmmm not sure about that???and still he argued that the unit will not work until the temp is 5degrees or below  so here i am YET AGAIN driving about without a booster heater waiting for them to carryout repairs :D upon returning home phoned the supplying dealer and had a polite chat with him and contacted the finance company and let them know aswell,o well at least it doesnt stop me from driving the car.
