Damo Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 Hi,Question regarding the little dashboard computer that shows MPG/temp/trip miles on a Mark2 Galaxy (2004)Can it be turned off, i.e. display completely blanked?Somehow my display went off and it happened when accidentally turning the ignition key on/off a few times. The display then remained off during the journey. Some time later I did some further fiddling about and the display returned.I don't know the exact sequence, or if indeed it was just coincidence. When it was turned back on, the trip meter and journey time were at the values present when the display was turned off. So, can the computer display be intentionally blanked or do I have a faulty computer display?Note-there is no mention of this in the 2004 version handbook. Thanks in advance for any comments. Quote
big_kev Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 The display is very much like the screen on your computer...ie it is dumb and the information is actually held elsewhere. Most likely turning the ignition on and off a few times caused a software glitch in the video driver in your cars electronics.Like a normal computer this is nearly always cleared by a restart. Wouldn't worry about it unless it does it again. p.s. if it ain't broken don't try to fix it ! Quote
NikpV Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 AFAIK it cant be turned off although it has happened twice in the last 4 years - not intending to do anything about it ... Quote
bfdboy Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 I seem to have an issue with the display on my car. When it is hot the top part of the display (half of the top row of figures) disappears . Has anyone experienced this / knows a fix ? I'm presuming it is due to the heat . Quote
chrispb123456 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Yep seems to happen when weather turns hot and the cars been parked up with the sun on it, gets better when air-cons been on for a while. Not heard of a fix but always goes back to normal at night or when weather cools down. Quote
