Conor Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Hi, Just bought a year old Galaxy TDCi Ghia for my wife. She has been complaining about feeling drops of moisture hitting her left foot (mainly on the clutch or footrest) while driving. This is not a flow of liquid - just the odd drop of moisture here and there. I suspect that the Air Con might be responsible but just wanted some advice on whether or not this was normal and if not what should I do about it? Thanks. Quote

Conor Posted August 21, 2007 Author Report Posted August 21, 2007 so is this a mk3 tdci galaxy or a mk2 tdi galaxy ? pictures for easy id here :D  Hi, Could not access these photos for some reason, but the Galaxy is the TDCi - the new model released last year - so I assume its the mk3. Quote
mumof4 Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 Yes the TDCi is the MKIII. Topic moved to MIII technical. Quote
NikpV Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 in that case it should be under warranty - hie yourself to the dealer and get them to sort it :D  ps dont forget to let us know how it turn out - so that others can benefit from the knowledge TIA Quote
Conor Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 Thanks Guys, Will let you know what happens at the garage! Quote
Tommie1 Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Could it be that you put your aircon very cold? Try putting it in automatic mode at 21 or 22 Quote
davetech Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 My missus complained about the same thing. Ford garage said it was a known problem to do with condensation, but did not intend to do anything about it. Quote
fandango Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 Hi, suppose you may have had this fixed by now, but we had a similar problem on our 2.0TDCi Ghia, to the extent that the cubby hole under the drivers seat was flooded with about 3 inches of water! Anyway, took it to the garage (Benfields in Wetherby) where it was diagnosed as being the drain pipe for the AC unit not sticking through to the outside properly. All the condensation from the AC was then draining into the car! Hope that helps. Quote
mk3nick Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 If you look just above the foot rest you'll see 2 air con pipes. These pipes are not insulated in anyway (design shortfall?) so drips WILL form and you know where they will fall... Quote
jamesey Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 i bet its just condensation on the pipes , try wrapping some foam insulation around them that should cure it  Quote
Seatdriver Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 These two pipes you mention that come through the bulkhead and disappear behind the centre console (and are just over the foot rest) get so hot on my vehicle (when upto operating temp) that you cannot touch them and the side of the console gets pretty darn hot too. Anyone else experienced this, going to have a word with the main agent regarding this! 1.8tdci 125 56 plate Quote
Mossup Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 My '07 galaxy is doing this, from the bottom left corner of the panel by the clutch, I've worked out its condensation from the a/c unit behind, checked drain pies and changed pollen filter but it's still doing it. What was the fix for yours? Quote
Jezza63 Posted August 28, 2012 Report Posted August 28, 2012 Hi, I am new to the Ford Galaxy Owners Club. I recently bought a 61 plate Mk 3 diesel auto. So far it seems fairly good. I asked a taxi driver who works for a large taxi fleet if they had any problems with the many Galaxys that they have. His only significant comment was: "when you have it serviced make sure the garage puts clips on the heater pipes where they pass through the bulkhead". Apparently no pipe clips are fitted during assembly so when the rubber ages and goes hard, leaks can start. It seems odd to me that pipe clips are not used, but it might be true. Quote
