have to get access to radiator as i am losing more coolant. does anyone know how to remove the panel with the front grille attached (mk1). i can see how it fixes on the top but can't see how it fixes at the sides (it runs under the headlights and joins the wings).

Did mine few weeks ago.

Remove the indicators - there are screws inside there that hold the ends of it on.

Along the bottom it clips into place. You need to sort of bend the top it toward you and the bottom away from you in a twistin motion. This causes the clips to move to the top of thier slots so that they will disengage. If you have careful look you should be able to see the clips / lugs - I worked this out without a manual or advice so I must have been able to see how to do it!

Cheers

thanks steve. will have a go today. the designers always like to try to hide any fixings which causes problems when you want to remove the part. i didn't want to use too much force as the panel looks expensive.

My panel looks to have dropped a little under the offside light unit and it feels loose with up and down movement. As my car is a 2001 2.9tdi and the light assy combines the indicator lights are there still screws under the light unit to secure the front panel?
