andrew welsh1958 Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 over the last few weeks my drivers door lock has been stiff, then about 3 days ago the lock just started spinning all the way round, has any one any idea of what could be wrong?, and how to fix it,also during recent wet weather central locking has been playing up, thanks in advance for any advice or help Quote
Neils TDi again Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Not Sure on your vehicle if you put it in your signature then we will all know, but the fault is normally that the cast actuator arm onthe back of the tumbler or the lock has departed fromthe body of the lock, the parts including the spring that is now probably rattling around inside your door are all available from ford dealers but if your really unlucky then it may mean a new set of locks or just the driver door lock and a seperate key for it. IIRC there is a write up somewhere on the forum maybe NIkpv or Mumof4 can find it for you. Quote

normanjhh Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 I had a similar problem and have just had it repaired a hour or so ago. My driver door lock would only tirn so far and not lock or unlock the car ot would however open the electric front windows. I then started to use the passengers door lock and well it happened to that door too so ended up having to lock and unlock it from the boot. I got it repaired with a new Drivers Lock, Serviced passengers side and they also serviced the boot lock as well and all for Quote
vickigalaxylover Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 -"also during recent wet weather central locking has been playing up, thanks in advance for any advice or help" Just to add, if you already havent rectified above problem, check the rubber cable gaiters that are located in top of tailgate hatch. These are very prone to splitting and have been known to be the route of most electrical gremlins, i.e., door lock(s) in this situation... The reason is cables become stiff and subsequently the cables rub against each other causing some cables to become bare and short each other causing malfunction in system. The rubber gaiter being splitwill greatly increase the issue - espescially as water from rainfall/ carwashes penetrates the electrics in that area.I hope this helps - If not I guess I was barking up the wrong tree!!
