gregers Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 it always amazes me on how much dr,s opinions differ,my eldest use to have severe tonsillitis(nearly every month)we kept on going back to his dr,s and he kept on giving cal pol etc, until one night we had to take him to the emergency drs and lo and behold,he couldnt believe that they hadn't been taken out and booked him in to see the specialists.all sorted now. better late then never T at least shes now getting the correct treatment, once she gets home, with all those steroids in her shell be climbing the walls :) Quote
MadBaz Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Some Drs are completly effing useless. My mates twins were born prem and had meningitus and septicemia, they were treat with penicillin based antibiotics and both are allergic, they were very poorly and spent the first 3 months of thier lives in hospital, just b4 thier 2nd birthday aimee had a chest infection and an out of hours dr was called, despite being told several times about the allergy to penicillin she dispensed from her boot a nice big bottle of yellow amoxycillin syrup, She just didn't understand that amoxycillin is penicillin based so I let her go on her merry way and took my mate Colin and Aimee to hospital, we complained to Pendoc (out of hours service) but haven't heard anything yet. It just galls me that such a basic mistake could have had far reaching consequences and She appears to have got away scot free. What else is She prescribing, happy pills for crying babies, placebo for head injury etc etc.... Quote
El Dingo Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 T, I'm so sorry to hear that.Hope she gets better... Quote
jkspoff Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 There are unfortunately good doctors and bad, just like any other profession.........ALWAYS without doubt get a second or even third opinion you ARE entitled to this on the NHS. Quote
teresa Posted April 9, 2007 Author Report Posted April 9, 2007 well guys shes home hospital discharged her yesterday.... she is still very wheezy but her breathing is better ...shes on steroids to take down the inflamation in her airways and also got an inhaler... the dr at the hospital has reported the dr that said she just had chest infection Quote
HullHornet#30 Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Sorry to hear about your grand daughter hope see gets better quickly we changed dr's recently cause he was psyhic could diagnose you as you worked through the door. I play americna football so have a lot of concussive injurys and do a reasonable amount of weight training, as a result i'm only 5'9" but weigh 15 1/2 stone so i am classed as clinicaly obese and he always told me that was why i was ill or in pain because i was obese. Swear he got his dr license from 4 tokens off cereal and 2.50 p&p. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 (edited) Interesting points - But just remember Dr's practice medicine - they don't always get it right, there isn't always a right or wrong answer and of course they will often disagree with each other. A lot of what they do is by way of an experiment - they try this and try that until they find one that works for that patient. If it was easy being a Doc it wouldn't take at least 7 years to become one. Of course they can make mistakes they're not infallible - and despite all of our wishes they can't fix everything. I agree that sometimes you get a duff or lazy one - but I tell you what I wouldn't be without them!! - and most of you probably wouldn't either!! Edited April 9, 2007 by Bigjeeze Quote
