chevron169 Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 I've suffered the traditional gal owners flood. Blocked drains, footwell swimming pool, control box under passenger seat goes mad and doesn't recover. I noticed on ebay a few weeks ago that someone was trying to sell info on what sounded like how to reset the control box however the ad disappeared very quickly. Does anybody know how to do this ? I remember reading the feedback at the time and it sounded like it worked for several buyers. Quote
Guest wolfie Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 IIRC it wasnt how to reset it, but how to by pass it using a couple of relays and a few bit of wire :16: the relays do the job of the damaged sections of the board sections of the printed circuit board Quote
chevron169 Posted April 4, 2007 Author Report Posted April 4, 2007 OK Thanks wolfie. My symptons are: Central Locking won't respond properly, interior lights don't come on automatically, elec windows don't respond properly. I can't reset the key plip to the car, have resorted to removing the fuse for the central locking but have to replace it to open the tail gate, what a pain ! Does it sound as though your solution would work ? How could I get the info ? Quote

ALANC555 Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Has anyone bought this repair advice of ebay and know if it works. I know it's only a tenner just hate the thought of being ripped off Quote
ALANC555 Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 The ECU'S are really hard to get hold of 2nd hand. Everyone has the same problem of water damage. Plus there are at least 3 different types of ECU. At the moment I'm thinking of modding a similar ford module or even buying a universal central locking system and adapting it to use the Gal wiring has anyone tried this Quote

KevinMcK Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 My CCu or ECU? is not in the passenger footwell. Any ideas where I should look?? I have been getting water in footwell and intermittent starting. Dealer cannot find a fault, but again the car is in the yard outside and will not start !!!! Thanks Quote

Ant Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Hi I have problems with my controller unit, it was working as far as drivers door and fuel cap locking, windows would close and open on the key. I removed the unit and found a small amount of damage to the board I have repaired this but now when I put the unit back into the car nothing works at all I have checked the fuses and all seem fine! I would like to know if there is a way to bench test this unit and if poss does anyone know what all the wires go to ie colour codes for cables. Does the unit need resetting once its powered back up and if so how? Also does anyone know what the relay is for next to this unit its marked 79? Thanks for any help Quote
