Guest Fineartdogs Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Hello Have tried search and get no information for my subject. Probably using the wrong search words. Apologies if this has been asked before. When I remove my ignition key, both my front windows go down. I have a V reg. Ford Galaxy Zetec TDi auto. Thanks for any help. CH Quote
Guest wolfie Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 when you remove the key from the ignition or the door lock? if from the door lock it's because your holding it to long in the unlock position when you remove the key and are tripping the global closure system into opening the windows! or you have a wiring fault? possible short in the door loom? MadBaz Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 (edited) Could also be broken "paddles", its part of the barrel/handle assembly and connects to the door lock mechanism, available at your local VW dealer for a reasonable price. One of the symptoms is key getting stuck or moving completly roundDo check wiring though first. edit: aargh sorry just noticed "remove ign key" Edited March 18, 2007 by MADBAZ Quote

Guest Fineartdogs Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 Check for a puddle in the compartment under the front passenger seat That has been done. Also a diagnostic thingy (very technical term) was plugged in to something under the ashtray.Checked under the passenger seat all dryChecked under the bonnet, a few leaves, but dry.The mechanic was going to speak to a Ford mechanic to see if he had any ideas, otherwise the car has to bebooked into the garage to check all the wiring and I am worried about a hefty bill. You know the kind of thingfemale (rub hands with Quote
kmac Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Madbaz Do you have any specifics re the "paddle" replacements you speak about e.g. part number? or will Volkswagen recognise the term? The reason I ask is that My driver door lock - I had to move the key through almost 270degress to get the dorrs to lock. Now the key gets stuck and in fact door won't lock from the driver side. From searching the forum, I think it might be the broken paddles behind the barrel. I have to use the passenger side to lock the doors. Quote
MadBaz Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Sorry no part number, but The local VW parts dept will probably know what your on about, check this link for piccy, I wouldn't buy from there though, a little over-priced. Quote
