or................ how about having the problem fixed??

you should try and get a note of the fault code for this warning light.

hi Hijacker

well that could be sorted after the mot, just wanted to know if the gal will pass the mot with them removed,

fault code

hows that found ?

I would have thought that the MOT Inspector would know the vehicle should have an airbag and subsequently fail it.

Safety is paramount, get it fixed asap. Do a search for clock spring and airbag.

iirc the 'bulb' is a led which can only be removed by de-soldering, it's probably clock spring do as chromedome said.

wish it never had an airbag, clock spring are the easy to change ?

expensive ?

Awww..you dont mean that..if god forbid anything happened and you had taken the airbag out..........

believe me..they are there for a reason.......i have so far in the year i have been driving, driven past a few major car crashes on the motorway......one wasnt so long ago either on the M4...5 car multiple crash with fatalities. The smell of burning rubber/fuel is not nice. Those airbags may save your life one day.

Hi,

I believe the trouble of your airbag light may be the airbag sensor in the steering wheel. I friend of mine had one go on his 1999 2.3 Galaxy. He was told by his local garage that its a common problem. I think it cost his about

I wouldn't expect it to pass with this light remaining on, but I've been wrong before !

To get the fault code you need somebody with either VAG-COM or a generic fault code reader. I'm a bit too far away from West Yorkshire to help but others are nearer and may be able to help. Reading the fault code would identify the source of the problem.

I got mine from www.ross-tech.com

They are selling them for $349 plus you get stung for import tax about a month later.

Others have bought cheaper leads through EBay and used the unregistered version of VAG-COM. Still gives you the fault codes but without the description. Easy enough though to find out what the codes mean.

hi

ive been informed by my garage owning mechanic freind that the airbag system is not part of any MOT test so does not need to be working to pass, unlike ABS which is. So you dont need to rush but i would get it looked at.

that would be cool then,

there other bits that may fail it too, like driver door shuts ,but not if you shut it harde, passenger window doesnt work.or the mirror ,small marks on rear lens lamp,

think best thing to do is put in to find out what its gonna fail on ???

I've got same problem, I thought I'd cured it but came back today, only seems to happen in cold. I've got a theory...watch this space......

mmmmm wonder if the door rubbers are getting a bit stiff with the cold, try rubbing on silcone grease to keep them supple.
