El Dingo Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 In our family, my daughter has a fear of clowns (coulrophobia) and I have a fear of chewing gum - either accidently touching it stuck underneath a table, or the smell of it on peoples breath (yeeucchhhh!!!). Just thinking about it makes me recoil in horror. There are some really good phobias; fantastic names and wierd definitions. For example:Motorphobia - Fear of automobilesAllodoxaphobia - Fear of opinionsArachibutyrophobia - Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouthConsecotaleophobia - Fear of chopsticksGenuphobia - Fear of knees(!)Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia - Fear of the number 666Pogonophobia - Fear of beardsSpermatophobia or Spermophobia - Fear of germs (yes, really) Come on, tell us your phobias! mumof4 Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 believe me..when confronted with one of my kids dangling "wormy" in front of me..i run screaming for the hills.....found a worm in a hat in the house...i screamed......Lissa said to be quiet as her pet "wormy" was sleeping...the fact that it was wriggling out of the hat was enough to send me into hysterics!!..Gawd......i hate it when it rains and they cover the path..its like playing hopscotch dodging the little buggers!! MadBaz Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Mines bloody spiders, I freeze and break out in a cold sweat whenever I see one, I can't sleep if I've seen one in the house. It's stupid I know, strange thing is though I uesd to pull the legs of em when I was a kid. Quote

MadBaz Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Funny that, when I make a spag bol I tell the kids they're having worm stew and they love it. Quote
El Dingo Posted March 18, 2007 Author Report Posted March 18, 2007 Talking about spiders, we now have a (nearly) spider-free house, thanks to Vapona Ant Killer. And a fly swat. B) Of course it's impossible to keep them out permanenty, and indeed not desirable, as they do a good job of sweeping up insects and so on. I like to keep out the Cardinals (common house spider) which move far too quickly for our family's liking. I quite like the 'fairy' spiders (don't know the proper name, but depending on where you live they can be called 'daddy long legs', however, most people around here call a crane fly a daddy long legs... (I'd post a picture, however, they've all been killed by the Vapona.) I quite like the multi-coloured garden spiders! Sorry MadBaz, but I think that's a nice looking spider. Quote
El Dingo Posted March 18, 2007 Author Report Posted March 18, 2007 Worms.... Hmmm... Scoleciphobia - Fear of worms http://www.willisworms.com/?gclid=COyx586G_ooCFREXEAodUEKkFw A useful web site, offering fast delivery! I never knew that there are so many species of worm. Quote

Daughter dragged me to see Charlottes Web at piccys last weekend, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, I didn't squirm once, but I did have a tear in my eye near the end, it was one of my favourite books when I was her age.
