mumof4 Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 I have been informed by Tiscali that it will take up to 20 days but more likely 10 days to transfer my broadband account to the new house!!...how can i get around this?...i have today activated the phone line in the new property so it should be up and running in 24 hours....i cant go 10/20 days with no internet!!..(yes i know...sad i am).....sooooo...without having to cancel this end now ..how can i get the other end up and running without having to wait till the end of march to get back to you lot once ive moved??....Ive thought about going with another provider, but apart from not being able to understand the person i speak to about my bb account..i am quite happy with Tiscali.....sooo....how can i do it? Guest wolfie Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 go wireless and leach off the neighbours :16: or buy a extremely long extension lead and pay it out behind you as you drive to the new house! please note I did say extremely long and not just long :16: anyone else would just need the long one but the routes you take you'll need the extemely long one :16: Quote
NikpV Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 ok if you have the phone number get hubby to order from tiscali with a five working day lead time - when its in and working cancel the other one, this assumes that you dont have any 'contract' time to run on the original (usually 12 months for free modem and connection. You will have to pay for one month twice but may be cheaper than dialup, in practice I would reckon a cease & reprovide will take 5-10 days unless tiscali/bt are being particularly incompetent (sorry Bj) Quote
NikpV Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 umm looking at tiscali 20 days may be optomistic somes experience here Quote
MadBaz Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 One of my customers still isn't connected to Sky broadband, and they insist his line was activated on 3rd dec last year, They insist He's active and there is no fault on the line, I had to humour their tech support but to no avail. Since BT launched Openreach I can't get anyone to physically check the lines activated at the exchange anymore. I told hhim to get in touch with Trading Standards as he's paying for goods and services which He's not received. Quote
Gteuk Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 Phone up and say you are moving, they may not charge the cancelation fee (live in hope) as nik said register either with a different provider or get hubby to sign up, these days it does not matter which provider you go with the equipment is exactly the same, DSL Max is a BT wholesale product the only difference is some providers do port blocking as others don't, but its all on the BT Wholesale network where the providers have no control over the LLU unlike they did with the likes of 512k 1mb 2mb packages before :16: I agree since BT openreach been involved it gone bad, I still not got my two lines I asked for in december 2006, what a saga, I have had slow broadband at home for months now and finally an engineer is coming on tuesday (well if he can find his way) Quote
mumble_bee Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 I just moved from Bulldog to Be, and it took me 10 days all in, Bulldog use their own line, and the only reason it took 10 days was because Be do some weird stuff to their phone lines... BT said they could have me connected in 3 days.when moving from regular adsl to regular adsl... it really shouldnt take much time.. but as wolfie said there are alot of friendly neighbours out there who leave their wireless unsecured, for JUST SUCH occasions... oh and being a gamer I might be prejudiced.. but I've tiscali are poo.. In the end I left it overnight and in the morning it came up and has worked fine since then. Broadband is the most complained of service we have - when it goes wrong - It is amost impossible to get it sorted internally we get the same treatment as everyone else!! Quote
