N Reg 2.0 Aspen.

Just purchased the above Galaxy and the red temperature gauge light was flashing and the heater did not blow hot air. The cooling system header tank took a couple of litres of water to fill and once it has been filled the heater blows hot air and the red light stopped flashing.

Now for the crunch!

The temperature gauge when you are motoring now barely moves (when stationary it moves over half way as you would expect). Is it possble the heater and the lack of temperature gauge movement could be down to the cooling system thermostat staying open or are there any other areas to look?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. The oil has no water in it!

Hi Merky, I've got the same car and I've found when motoring the needle rarely leaves the white part of the gauge, and when stood still it rises as it should. But I do have heat in the blower after approx 5 mins of tickover from below freezing.
