MadBaz Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 (edited) I finally decided to fit a remote unit from this chap using his ke04 kit I didn't think it was a bad price for Edited February 3, 2007 by NikpV Quote
Taz69 Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 Hi chap, will the kit be ok for my Galaxy 2.3 Zetec, having just brought the motor I only have 2 keys with it, neither of which have the remote button, it does have central locking, I would have thought that it would have had remote central locking being a V reg 2000 model. Thanks in advance Mark Quote
Guest Cepheus Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 V Reg 2.3 Zetec should have had remote locking as standard fit. Might be easier (but not necessarily cheaper) for you to obtain the remote fob and program it yourself. Check out the FAQ for instructions and requirements. Quote
MadBaz Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Posted January 30, 2007 I would say the kit is suitable, however finding the correct wires may be a little trickier and more involved as I believe the PATS module was moved/incorporated with the PCM in later models. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Quote

MadBaz Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Posted January 30, 2007 Just had a look on TIS apparently PATS is behind instrument cluster on '98-2000 models, or under dash panels on 2000+ models. I assume these are slightly harder to get to than under the passenger seat, don't quote me though ^_^ . Quote
Guest wolfie Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 (edited) the PATShttp://www.porte4.com/mainpix/patriots_logo.gif ^_^ ^_^ module has always been up under the dash in one form or another? but what has the re positioning of the Passive Anti T heft System module to do with the central locking? I think your getting confused between the central locking/alarm (if fitted) ECU and the PATS module? the two are totally seperate items! Edited January 30, 2007 by wolfie Quote
MadBaz Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Posted January 30, 2007 Apologies Wolfie you are quite right, I'm getting old, I thought on the early mk1 the central locking/pats/alarm were all one unit DUH, it's the central locking/anti-theft unit under the front passenger seat I mean when I've said PATS in my previous post  Quote
Guest wolfie Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 DOH! never mind it gave me the opportunity to get another Patriots logo http://www.wsno1450.net/img/patriots.jpgin the page  Quote

teosma Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Hi everybody,i have a question about the central locking: Normaly, when you forget to close the car, 1 minute after, the car close the door by itself, is it right? What is the circuit, that makes it? Thank you... Quote

What is the circuit, that makes it? Thank you... not noticed that myself - if you use the remotre to open to unlock the doors and you don't open one within 30 secs (or so) it relocks them - it assumes you have accidently set off the unlock signal on the remote - is this what you are referring to ? teosma Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Hi, NikPv, yes, it's that i was trying to talk, do you know how it works? Quote
NikpV Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 I think its just a timer in the remote central locking module Quote
Taz69 Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 Hi all, I have a friend with a 55 VW Caddy, will the remote from this work, so I can check I have the remote central locking bits fitted, I can then get a fob etc. Thanks Mark Quote
chicosi Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 I bought a pair of flip key remotes from the same guy - see here for details Quote
7up Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Hi all, I have just ordered the remotes. Is it as easy as it looks to fit, i hope so. After years of the remote locking not working and trying to reprogram them i gave up and use the key to open/lock the car, but the o/s lock is now playing up, ie- can unlock but wont turn to lock, so i hope theses remotes work. Will let you know how i get on Quote
Darklord Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Hi all, after reading MADBAZ post on the unit he fitted i thought what the hell its only Quote

mumble_bee Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 madbaz and chicosi, thanks for the vote of confidence, I've watched this chap.. and been thinking about getting a kit for my missus' A4, seems cheap enough. TY again. Quote
Yunus Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Madbaz nice write up ....................so much so I have just bought myself the KE60 with the flip keys for my Gal........ Quote
chicosi Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 7up If you've nothing under the passenger seat it would appear that the connections you need are at the driver's side fuse box - connection details are here Quote
7up Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Thanks for the link, I have taken the lower dash off and have located the areas shown i can see where i need to connect the wires just a bit uneasy about pulling the fuse board out to get behind it, also where do the 2 brown indicator wires go to Quote
