MadBaz Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 I can't believe someone has actually posted this topic. Sorry mumof4 but I know a lot of people do it, but it should not be discussed on this forum unless your dicussing legal downloads of course. The fact that people download thier fave artists latest album etc is appalling. Quote
mumof4 Posted November 16, 2006 Author Report Posted November 16, 2006 I am on about legal :) But looking on the internet there are so many different ones...I just wanted to know which is the best one... didnt know there were illegal ones... :) Quote
Guest BagPuss Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 I use All Of MP3 Yes the Russian site, saw it in The Sun Paper a while back. Excellent selections! :) Quote
MadBaz Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 Sorry Marian, it's just that I'm in IT and a few of my customers recentley have been ripped off by an ass***e with an ad in paper, he'd used illegal software on thier pc's and it's now cost them twice to have the original problem sorted. Mind you I shouldn't complain its giving me more work. He'd also shown a few how to download mp3's for free, without appropiate security measures being in place. Worst case was an astrologer whose network was insecure, the poor chap ended up losing all his work on his business computer, which included: two manuscripts, two theses, all his clients data/starcharts etc, as well as numerous personal files, probably this has set Him back two by 2 years, despite my best efforts only a small amount of insignificant data was recoverable. He now has legal up to date software, secure network and a comprhensive back-up schedule. If yor gonna used peer to peer networks then please ensure your anti-virus, anti-spyware and MS security updates are up to date. I'm sure we'd all miss you if your pc goes down. Peer to peer networks have thier uses, but don't get stung. Theres a lot of sad people out there. ps. if peeps like an album/track they download for free, then go buy it. Quote
adrianf. Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 Removing the temptation will stop the problemIn other words reduce the prices at high street retailers. We all know that wont happen so the problem remains Quote

Guest bigelvis Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 I used to use limewire or kazaa for my downloads, but its chock full of spyware, its not legal and the last big cases in uk where people were prosecuted for illegal downloads were through these 2 sites, if you dont mind a big fine or possible imprisonment fine, but if you want to be legit use napster or similar, think even woolies do a download service now. End of day about 70p a track is better than jail. Quote
